Who Is Jesus?

Jesus is the Son of God.
Old Testament prophets spoke of His coming and described the eternal and life-changing impact He would have.

Jesus is both God and man.
He stilled the seas and walked on water. With a touch of His hand, he cured incurable diseases. He restored life to those who had physically died.

Jesus personifies love.
He paid the ultimate price so that we could live with Him forever. He sees us through the eyes of love.

He loves us in spite of every hurtful thought, every harmful word, and every wrongful action. These are all a result of sin, which contaminates everything we do. It is behind every broken home, every empty life, every infirmity, every damaged emotion, every sorrow and grief. And as the Bible says, the end result of sin is death. But Jesus Himself was sinless; only He could pay the penalty for our sins.

Because of his love, He suffered, died, and rose again.

We are forgiven. All who believe in Jesus are guaranteed eternal life with Him in heaven.

Why did Jesus do this?  Because Jesus is Love.

Our Mission Together
"Being, Living as, and Making Disciples of Jesus Christ"

The Three G's
In our life together as the body of Christ we carefully consider many factors, but three vital areas revolve around the following beliefs:
Grace
The Great Commandment
The Great Commission.
Grace
We're told in Ephesians (2:8): "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..." Without grace none of us would experience the miracle of God's love, have the gift of faith and the assurance of eternal life.  Without grace we would not be able to survive as a community of faith.  So, then, we claim that grace, live in faith and cling to Christ.  We are living as forgiven children of God.
Given the fact of grace in our lives, how are we to live as grace-filled children and a grace-filled church?  How can we communicate grace and God's love so that others may experience grace in the community and the world.  These are core questions that we seek to address as a community of faith.

Great Commandment
Jesus was asked which was the greatest commandment of the law.  He replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  .  And the second is like it:  Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-39).
The Great Commandment sums up not just the ten Commandments, but all of the law and the prophets.  In our everyday lives we are reminded by his commandment that our love for God is fundamentally connected to our love for one another.  Jesus also tells us that our love is a beacon of hope for the world: "By this all men will know you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Great Commission
The third "G" is the Great Commission based on Jesus' words in Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to  obey everything I have commanded you.  And, surely I am with you always to the very end of the age."
The Great Commission is Christ's final command to his disciples.  We are to seek the lost and make disciples of all nations.  God has promised that he is working through his Holy Spirit in the hearts of people in all parts of the world and has chosen us to be his agents of love and grace, bringing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ.

A Basic Statement of Faith:

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ,
His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
